Day One Impressively the guys showed up just after eight this morning – and surveyed the empty shell of the kitchen before bashing nine bells out of it. Good work was achieved around the utility room and cooker – although there was a casualty – the utility room light which was shattered like a spicy popadum on a Friday night at the Raj – minus the argument over the end of evening bill. Kitchen cleared

And so the two year wait is now over and Sunday was mainly spent packing the kitchen up ready for the ripout on Monday. It’s quite amazing how much crap kitchen stuff we found – too many unused ‘cookie-cutters’ and more cake tins than Mcvitte’s. Nigella would have had a field day. In order to survive the kitchen ripout – cooking essentials have been setup next door (the TV room not the neighbours!) and include a kettle, microwave and breakfast cereals. So the moons have aligned and 21st March is the start date for the kitchen ripout. At present kitchen gadgets are being selected – more to follow.

Coming soon – The Kitchen is finally being done……

So finally, nearly 2 years late the kitchen has been ordered and sometime in the next two months updates will start again on this website detailing the kitchen taking shape. As I type I understand the Pizza and takeaway vendors in Hertford are busy taking on staff to cope with our increased comsumpion during this time.

So you crazy bandwidth hungry lurkers – here is hopefully the final update to brick blog – Sad I know but somewhat inevitable. It’s frankly a little bit emotional, like an episode of Emmerdale….I might have to open another beer..or box of wine…. So, ok a final tour….. Welcome once again into the wonderful world of Brick Blog. Thanks to all the wonderful and encouraging messages I have received over the last few weeks….all of them asked me to provide a bl**dy update to the blog. So here it is – not as detailed as I wanted but timescales and timezones have messed it all up…as if by magic the bedrooms are complete Bedroom One – Charlie And Two – Steph’s Sorry for the short update – once my head gets into the same time zone I will update with more. Ok, apologies first – a total lack of updates in the last two weeks is unacceptable and shoddy and I am truely, truely sorry. When I’m alone I have sat myself down and given myself a great big huge tellin’ off I can tell you…it’s just not good enough…tsk, tsk. tsk. Regular readers will have remembered a phrase I used in the last update which was “Things can only get better” and now, today, to be totally honest I believe this statement was pretty premature. Things can only get better

So more time for the blog this week – which is good as so much seems to happen in just 5 days – and putting this together acts as review for us to see how far the work has progressed and more importantly how much more work is to follow.
